EV charging and power electronics

Thin gauge, tight tolerance, high mix, and insulation that will not forgive a sharp edge.

EV charging and power electronics work is thin-gauge, tight-tolerance and high-mix, with short product cycles. Two factors dominate. The first is changeover time, because volumes ramp and mix changes faster than in traditional switchgear. The second is edge quality, because these assemblies are usually insulated by film, overmoulding or encapsulation, and none of those will conform to a sharp corner: a burr or an unradiused edge becomes an air void at the point of highest field stress. Chamfering and deburring are part of the electrical specification here rather than finishing operations.
