Busbar bending
Flatwise and edgewise forming, minimum radius by temper, springback, tooling marks and bend-sequence planning.
Two things separate a good bend from a bad one, and neither is the machine's nominal force. The first is minimum radius, which is set by the material's temper: EN 13601 designates soft annealed copper as R220, half-hard as R240 and hard as R290, and as temper hardens the smallest radius the outer fibre will take without cracking grows with it. The second is springback. Bending is elastic recovery over plastic deformation, so the part relaxes when the tool releases: springback rises with the ratio of yield strength to elastic modulus and with the ratio of bend radius to thickness. That is why a harder temper needs more overbend to land on the same finished angle, and why a compensation table keyed by material, thickness and temper — verified against a first article — is the only reliable way to hold an angle across a production run.
