Overview

EMAC-BP-60 is a CNC punching, shearing and embossing machine for copper and aluminium busbar up to 6000 × 210 × 16 mm. Punching and shearing units each develop 600 kN and the machine runs at up to 180 hits per minute. The tool magazine holds eight punch sets, one shear set and one embossing set; the embossing station coins the joint area to increase real contact area at a bolted connection, which is specified where joint temperature rise is verified rather than assumed. Hole pitch accuracy is ±0.20 mm/m and maximum punched hole diameter is 32 mm. Installed power is 15.7 kW. Three shear modes are available: punch shear, single shear and saw cutting.

Frequently asked questions

How is the required press force determined?
Sizing follows the worst case rather than the average: the largest hole the machine will ever punch, in the thickest and hardest bar it will ever run. Punch force is the hole perimeter multiplied by material thickness multiplied by shear strength. The punching force calculator performs the arithmetic and shows which machines clear the result.
What does the embossing station do?
It coins the joint area of the bar to increase real contact area at a bolted connection. It is specified where joint resistance and temperature rise are being verified rather than assumed.
