Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear — general rules
IEC 60947-1 gives the general rules for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear — the devices themselves rather than the assemblies they go into. It covers definitions, characteristics, product information, service and mounting conditions, constructional and performance requirements, and verification. For a busbar fabricator its relevance is at the interface: the terminals, connection arrangements and temperature limits of the devices the busbar lands on are set here, and they constrain what the bar geometry can do.
Terminal temperature limits belong to the device, not to the bar. The joint is designed to the device limit rather than to the limit of the bar.
